So, I’m confused. Are the game pictures real photos with a digital car blended in, or is the environment all 3D?

Simply, “Scapes” in GT7 are real photos with the 3D model added on, and then probably some environmental effects such as lighting added to interact with the car.

There’s more work that goes into the compositing photos to create a larger scene, and make it a much more realistic effect, but that’s the basics.

You also put it on a website cluttered with ads instead of just sharing the god damn photo/videos on a website we’re already on.

Surprised you didn’t ask me to download your app

Meanwhile, I’m still driving a stock Honda Accord around Laguna Seca in GT4 to see how consistent my lap times can be.

This is wild! Results were better than I expected.

I like GT a lot, wish they would release it for PC as well one day…

I remember when GT4 was coming out, the word “photorealistic” was being thrown around a lot. And yeah, maybe on the 19" 1024x768 displays we had back then, and the quality of digital cameras we had, it may have been tough to tell the difference in some cases. :D Still amusing to think about, given how far we’ve come.
