It’s my understanding that a fresh update will cause the phone to possibly lag for a day or two at most as the system reindexes everything for search etc. maybe give it time if it was just done.

Yeah, I have this lag on my iPhone 6s on only iOS 15 for some reason! Idk why! I just got used to it!
