Might sound really stupid for this, but where is the hard drive on this motherboard? Was thinking of swapping it out for a 1tb SSD, but first I wanna know what I’m supposed to do, and where to put it.
Just check the model specs. If it does not include a slot for standard ssd, then you can use the ssd via usb (just get an ssd 2.5 enclosure and put the ssd in it )
I wonder if you could show me a single example of a manufacturer indicating what empty slots are inside of a computer on the specs page.
You basically have to read reviews to find out what’s actually inside of any given laptop model. And even then, you get variations.
Specs do show such information for laptops in manufacture websites mate.
For example msi gf Thin GF63 12UDX (exact model);
STORAGE CAPABILITY 1x M.2 SSD slot (NVMe PCIe Gen4) 1x 2.5" SATA HDD
MEMORY Max 64GB DDR4-3200 2 Slots
Total dick move having an unpopulated SSD slot in the middle there. Thanks HP.
I guess this means stay away from any computer you haven’t seen opened up and verified that there are SSD slots inside.
There are also empty ram slot pads
I have a laptop with a more feature-rich version of the same motherboard, that small green board in the bottom left is most likely your storage. It is connected to what I believe is a proprietary sata connector. You can double check by looking for the header marked with the code jhdd. If I’m correct, you can probably buy an adapter for your model of laptop/motherboard, and connect that to your new SSD.
