I agree with everyone else, powder coat it. But if you want to paint it, I just used black “Appliance Epoxy” spray paint. No prep, no primer, sprayed on three coats and it dried perfect and hard. Held up until I was ready to powdercoat.

Only thing about powder coats is you can’t touch them up if they get chipped which is just as likely as if you rattle can it

Less likely to chip but no touch up if you do chip. Can always brush on paint to touch up if it’s black powder coat

Get it powder coated. It’s not a complex part, really shouldn’t be much at all depending on the color. I’d shoot it for a couple hundred tbh.

Powder coat obvi is best. But if you are gonna rattle can using a good clear is paramount. A good two part clear helps or even the 2k 2 part you can get in a can works. It’s like 20 a can but closest quality you can get in a can I feel. I did a small bike with it, wet sanded and turned out great. But for a frame I’d always go powder if it can just cause it’s tougher.

If you want fast and cheap epoxy rattle can seems to be the strongest spray paint from what I’ve heard. I powder my coated my frame but epoxy was plan b

If you want basic black or white there is a spray paint epoxy for appliances that a lot of us use and it holds up great to road wear.
