Nice to see another entrant into EV trucks. Tesla gets a lot of press, but they didn’t make the first class 8 electric truck and they don’t have the volume either. Given how silly the design is, I expect the traditional manufacturers will do well. Trucking companies don’t care too much about pretty, they care about how it works.

I’m obviously biased against Tesla but this looks like a much more convincing attempt to succeed in EV trucking. A truck based on existing truck models using truck specs parts.

there’s a draft standard for Megawatt Charging System - with a goal power of 3.75MW. the latest revision is basically “NACS’s big brother”

This has a much higher chance of success. Using traditional parts that are much more cost-efficient and more people knowing how to work with.

This trend is interesting only if California builds more power plants to provide electricity for all of the electric trucks. Having lived in California for sixty years, and experiencing rolling blackouts on hot days because demand exceeds supply of electricity, more demand on the power grid is not something to celebrate.

Yeah, rolling blackouts haven’t happened. Blackouts happen from time to time, but they’re not caused by load. They’re usually caused by local equipment failure, or stuff like trees falling into the power lines. That’s different than the ISO turning off parts of the grid because there isn’t enough power generation.

This is public record, and you’re repeating a right wing lie. It doesn’t happen. I’ve lived here all my 50+ years of life.

This is huge, after the Tesla flop at Pepsi it’s going to be interesting if Daimler can produce a product that delivers. Very impressive!
