06 Buick LeSabre. Neighbor been having trouble with MAF. Noticed this while replacing sensor. Obviously not good but this is just a flow straightener right? Shouldn’t be causing MAF sensors to quit?

    Depends on the car. A lot of the Asian cars I’ve worked with are pretty pissy when the fins are damaged or flow is disturbed. It would be enough to cause a stall or anything but fuel trims might be a little off. Combine that with another AF ratio issue and things get out of whack.
