besides that is not the company that Tesla gets gigacastings from. That would be IDRA group / LK Technology Hong Kong.

We’ve been watching Tesla for a decade now and we know how closely they monitor their suppliers. This won’t have come as a surprise to them.

They do have another team they use for the same thing in Germany, which is where they have their EU Gigafactory but…

The way Musk went out of his way to emphasise that the Highland refresh was done by the Shanghai team “from start to finish” makes me feel that this is where they are going to take that competency in-house. This is complete speculation on my part and I have no evidence for it but I personally think they will announce at some point that the casting that TEI did has been brought in house in China.
