This is the front of my engine, just above the oil pan. The vehicle is a 2002 Chevy S10 4.3L. Any ideas are appreciated.

looks like lack of maintenance. if this is how you got the car, then lack of maintenance by previous owner. it could be a lot of things, it doesn’t always necessarily mean it’s the front crank seal, it could be a leaking power steering pump, it could be leaking valve covers, it could be a leaking timing cover, it could also be the oil pan that’s leaking, etc. all those play a roll here in this situation, where a leak trickles down or around the area making it wet and makes it look like it could be something else, but since we don’t know the condition of the engine just by looking at this picture, it could be anything. id suggest getting the engine cleaned first (nothing fancy, just something to clean the oil off it) and then inspect it after about a couple of days (if it’s a heavy leak) to see where the oil is coming from, instead of doing a parts cannon (which it probably needs anyways, but the goal is to save your money and only do the necessary stuff first). keep us updated 🤙
