CD Projekt Red has announced that a massive update to Cyberpunk 2077 that is coming with Phantom Liberty DLC will also bring improvements to the base game.

It had been assumed that to benefit from all the gameplay and system updates players would have to purchase the DLC. However during Opening Night Live it was revealed that the base game would also see a whole host of improvements.

Dubbed Update 2.0 the exact updates that will be included outside of the DLC wasn’t announced but the Phantom Liberty includes the following…

• A dangerous new district
• Dozens of new story quests and gigs
• Vehicle combat and mounted weaponry
• Revamped police system
• Combat AI overhaul
• Endless dynamic events and missions
• Redesigned cyberware and perks
• All-new relic skill tree and abilities
• Increased level cap
• 100+ new items

Obviously the new district and story quests will be part of the DLC but the rest of the features may well make their way into the base game.

We won’t have long to wait as the Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 are poised to arrive on September 26th for PlayStation 5.

PlayStation 4 players will not receive the 2.0 update or have access to the Phantom Liberty DLC.

If like me you’re yet to start Cyberpunk 2077 it seems like September 26th will be a perfect time to finally start.

Ahh yes the “upgrades”. I would call them mamdatory patches to make the game into something remotely promised but whatever. It was my first and last game I have ever preordered and it was a good life lesson for my money.

Seems pretty clear to me those extra updated features will absolutely be part of the base game. It would be really fucking weird if just the DLC areas had a different police system, improved AI, vehicle combat etc to the rest of the game. It would feel really jarring going from one to the other if only part of it got overhauled.

I fucking hope so. I haven’t forgotten about the corpo shit they pulled. I’ am not paying extra for a fix.

(Nothing but love for the hard working devs on salary)

If these features come free to base game then we can start talking about this new dlc quest/map and if its worth getting.

I was thinking about replaying it one of these days, that might help.

Despite the fact that the game was far from perfect with a not so great story, it’s great to see that they’re still improving it👍

You didn’t enjoy the story? In my opinion it is the big selling point of the game, that and the extremely compelling setting / universe

I thought the story was insanely boring. I’m in the last stretch of it and I skip every cutscene now. I’m just in it for the combat at this point.
